Hi To Our Family and Friends -
This time of the year, people all over America are Walking for Kids, honoring the families and their children who depend upon, and benefit from, Ronald McDonald Houses across the world. Like last year, the event will be virtual in 2022. But like all other years, the need and our mission remain. When their kids get sick, families need a place away from home (at one of our Houses) so they can be close as their kids receive surgeries or life-saving treatment. At Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House (LARMH) - where I am a board member - we operate 75 rooms, families stay with us free of charge, and we are 100% dependent on donations to ensure that no family is ever turned away.
As you may know, my family stayed in a Ronald McDonald House in Minneapolis when my nephew, Jake, had a brain aneurysm 5 years ago. Our lives have never been the same since the loss of Jake, but we are forever grateful for the Ronald McDonald House during those days when we needed the open door, meals, a bed, and the people there who surrounded us with kindness.
In Jake's honor, I would like to invite you to join our Jake19 team to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House charity. This is the one time during the year when we reach out to our family and friends to help. Bret and I have started our Jake19 fundraising this year with a gift of $1,500. Please join us - matching our gift in total or in part. This year, we are going bigger than ever because we believe in the possibilities and promise this new year brings. Our goal is to raise $10,000, and we hope to do this before April 30! We ask that you open your hearts, be part of our Jake19 team, and please give whatever you are able.
Thank you for your support and partnership as we do this for the kids and the families. Sending hope and love.
Kim and Bret.
