Having watched my Brother go through cancer (age 7), followed by my Husband 24 years later. I can confidently say that having a community of people who understand your journey is super important to the healing process for all parties involved.
Camp Ronald Mc Donald is not just a camp for kids with cancer but also a camp for their family members too.
It is a camp where siblings can finally express all of their emotions about what it was (is) like to watch helplessly as their brother or sister goes through endless treatments of Chemo therapy, Radiation, Bone Marrow Transplants, surgery and many other treatments.
Often times the siblings are forgotten. Although they may not be the ones getting poked at they are feeling the pain just as much. This Camp remembers the siblings and caters to them just as much as they do the patients.
For the patient this camp is a place where they could go and not feel alone. A place where they could go and not be scared of what people might think of them because they are bald or missing a limb.
It is a place to forget about the doctor visits and just HAVE FUN!
Once Upon A Time I went to a camp that changed my life forever. I can't explain it all in writing. All I can say is that without this camp I would not be half the person I am today. I'm not asking for a HUGE donation. I'm just asking for anything you can give."

For more than 30 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California has been dedicated to creating a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, courage and joy through the operation of Ronald McDonald Houses, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times, a Community Grants Board and four Scholarship Programs. When you participate in the Walk for Kids, you are showing your support for families who are facing the fear and uncertainty of having a seriously ill child.
