Why We Walk
At the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California, we know that healing happens together. When you support the Walk For Kids, you are providing care, comfort, and support to families so that they may focus on what’s most important – healing their sick child. So know that when you walk, you are making moments like these possible.
When you participate in the Walk for Kids, you are helping people like
The Flowers Family
Khaylie was born premature with a number of conditions including Amniotic Band Syndrome, lung failure, and heart disease, Khaylie’s doctors in her home-country of Belize feared the worst. But her parents, Jessica and Larry, refused to give up. One night, Jessica and Larry saw an ad for Shriners Hospital for Children in Los Angeles and knew there was hope. While undergoing a series of intense treatments at both Shriners and LAC-USC Medical Center, Jessica and Larry learned about a “home away from home” that would enable them to make the long journey and get Khaylie the care she needed: the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House. The House has kept their family together, confident they’re giving Khaylie all the love and care in the world. She recently celebrated her second birthday at the House, and Khaylie and her family are ready to tackle any new obstacles that come in their path.
