Help Me Support Ronald McDonald House Charities
It is The Ronald McDonald House Charities Walk for Kids time of year. The time of year for big fundraising.
I want to focus on the families we serve. Our program is about the families. Families who need us at the most stressful time in a parent’s life, when their child is sick or seriously ill, as is the case with most of the families we serve.
Every year brings new challenges to us at The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California. Supporting our 6 Ronald McDonald Houses and Camp Ronald McDonald requires a lot of Love and a LOT of Fundraising.
I am fortunate to serve as the Board Vice Chair and as Chairman of The Walk for Kids. My inspiration comes from the brave families, the volunteers, the staff and you, people with interest in our Programs and many of whom donate.
Our annual Walk for Kids will be held on April 3 at multiple locations around Southern California, including the LA Memorial Coliseum where I will attend with thousands of other supporters/walkers. This is our largest and most significant Annual Fundraiser with a goal of $2,400,000 this year.
Our House Programs provide a “home-away from home” for families with seriously ill children. While the sick child is just across the street at the local Children’s Hospital, their family is close by. Our Houses provide an integral part of the healing process, a place of Wellness for the families, a place to rest, to make a meal, or share a conversation with another parent dealing with similar issues. Our Camp Program provides a place where children who require ongoing medical care can go to experience the thrill of being a camper and perhaps, some normalcy.
The link below is to a video about a family, like one of the many families we serve in Southern California, and that Ronald McDonald Charities serve, all over the world. Families with sick children all speak the same language, their “country” is the hospital. Please invest a few minutes by watching the video, it will make your day.
