Welcome to My Personal Page
Welcome to my personal, Walk for Kids page! Please take a minute to read why I'm walking.
This will be my 8th year participating in our 5K Walk. This year my mom, Kathleen Costello-Pitts, will once again be co-chairing the Walk. As you know, the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House continues to provide comfort to families in need. These are families of children undergoing treatment for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses at Miller Children's Hospital.
On any given day, our House accommodates 50 or more individuals. Some stay for a night while others for several weeks, some even months! It's their 'home away from home'.
We provide hot meals daily prepared by volunteers throughout the community. We offer sibling support, complimentary robes, slippers, toiletries, a locked pantry to store their personal dry goods and their own personal refrigerator. These amenities give the families a sense of being at home.
The average cost of sustaining the House is $125 per family, per night. Our House only asks families to pay $25 to $35 per night so, as you can see, there is a deficit. In order to make up the difference and to continue supporting families in need, our House relies on philanthropic gifts.
One of our largest fundraising events is our Walk For Kids. This year it will be held on Sunday, April 28th. Our goal this year is $275,000
I hope that you will join me in raising money so that we can continue to provide a safe environment for our seriously ill children and their families here in Long Beach and the greater South Bay area.
Be sure to check back to view my progress, and please share this page so that I can reach my fundraising goal!
To make a secure online donation, to help me reach my fundraising goal and my teams goal, Movers and Shakers, please click the Red Donate Now button to the right of the page. If you prefer, you can also send me a check made payable to L.B. Ronald McDonald House and I will personally deliver it for you. Please be sure to put my name, Cathie Caris, in the memo.
There is no amount too small, (or too large) to donate! Every dollar counts. Thank you for your continued support! I hope you will join me at our 2019 Walk for Kids!
